H. DeWitt Call’s Store

In 1888 Hilton & Patrick went into business together and ran this store and Patrick bought out Hilton’s interest in February 1891. [1891-02-06]

F. J. Westcott and Stanton bought out Patrick. [1892-04-15]

In 1903 H. D. Call buys out Westcott & Stanton. [1911-12-22]

At about this time (1911) the Hilton=Patrick Co. was formed and engaged in the wholesale produce business. [1911-12-22]

H. D. Call sells his store to Hilton & Patrick. [1911-12-22]

In November 1914 Hilton & Patrick are running full page “Going Out of Business” ads [1914-10-02]

H. O. Kenney takes over from Hilton & Patrick and leases the Hilton & Bryant Block. [1914-11-20]; [1914-11-25]; [1914-11-27]

In 1919 Kenney had Western Electric lighting installed. [1919-12-19]

H. O. Kenney retired in 1949 after running the business for 35 years. He sold the business to his son and a partner. The business continued under the name “Kenney and Law.” [1974-01-22]; [1962-03-01]

There is a restaurant operating out of this store today. The old grocery store is now a café/restaurant, called the “Cosmic Shack”. (June 2014)
